Making Chores Enjoyable
Chores are something we don’t look forward to doing, but have to get done anyways. Whether it’s cleaning your house, doing the laundry, or washing the dishes, chores can be tiresome and boring. That’s why it’s important to find ways to make those chores enjoyable so that you don’t feel like you’re wasting your time and energy.
One way I like to make chores less troublesome is by listening to music at the same time. For example, when I am folding my clothes, I like to have my headphones in my ears and listen to some relaxing tunes. It makes the process of folding clothes manageable since it shifts my focus away from the task itself and makes me thinks about how much I like the music. You don’t have to limit yourself to just music, though. You can even listen to a podcast, or listen to the audio of a video in the background if the visuals are irrelevant.
Another thing I like to do is talk with a family member or friend while I do my chores. Like music, this takes my mind off the chore that I’m doing and instead focus on the subject of the conversation. Whether it’s talking to a family member near you or calling a friend on a phone, talking can help pass the time quickly, and you’ll realize how fast you were able to get things done.
You should also try to think about the benefits of the chore you are doing. For example, when you are taking out the trash, you can think about how clean the house will be after you do so. You can think about how you are getting up and moving rather than just sitting down. You can also think about different ways you could do the chore better and more efficiently.
It can be tough to do chores, especially when you’re tired from a long day at school or work. But hopefully some of these suggestions can help you the next time you have to get through them.
The order you do your chores can help you with your workload. For example, you could try creating a daily or weekly chore plan. To read more about tips for ordering your chores, visit https://www.thespruce.com/order-to-do-chores-4159151
